Mom Kicked Out of TX Pizza Restaurant for Changing Baby's Diaper

Updated: Monday, August 11 2014, 11:41 AM CDT

SPRING, Tx. (KHOU)--A South Texas mother says she was kicked out of a pizza restaurant for changing her baby at the table.

Miranda Sowers of Spring says she was forced to take the extreme measure because Brother's Pizza Express did not have a changing table in its restroom.

So instead of packing up her other three kids to go outside to change her four-month-old daughter Reagan in their minivan, she changed her on the table. "So I thought you know what I've got my own changing pad she's tiny she fits right here on the chair so I laid her down quickly quietly changed her diaper," Sowers says.

But it wasn't quickly and quietly, according to the employees who say the restaurant was full. "I don't want to lose all these other customers because they see a dirty diaper," says co-ownerBessa Lala.

Lala says customers were complaining. "As soon as you start opening the diaper people start complaining about the smell of the diaper last thing I want is a customer throwing up," says co-owner Donny Lala.

Sowers argues no one saw her change the diaper, but she says and her girls were given their food in "to go" containers and asked to leave. "I had to carry it out with a big giant diaper bag and a baby in a car seat," she says.

Sowers has filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the restaurant stands behind its decision, knowing it's lost at least one family as customers.
