NBA Star Suffers Horrendous Injury During Scrimmage

Updated: Saturday, August 2 2014, 02:58 PM CDT
Indiana All-Star Paul George has undergone successful surgery to repair an open tibia-fibula fracture in his right leg and is expected to remain in the hospital for about three days, according to a statement from USA Basketball.
The 6-foot-10 forward suffered the gruesome right leg injury late in the U.S. national team's intrasquad scrimmage Friday night.
Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird has issued an updated statement saying it's too early to start talking about George's expected return.
Doctors estimate a full recovery could take up to 18 months.
