UPDATE: Man killed in Saturday crash identified

Austin Police have identified the man killed in a crash early Saturday morning in the 7000 block of E. US Highway 290 westbound. 

Police say a red 2011 Nissan 370Z 2-door was traveling westbound in the westbound lanes, when the driver veered to the left. The Nissan left the roadway and struck a light pole in the grass median. Police say the car then crossed into the eastbound lanes, struck a guardrail and another light pole, before coming to a stop in the grass median.

The driver of the car, Mohamed Mahndi Lambari, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still being investigated.

One person is dead after a Saturday morning accident in East Austin.

According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded at 5:20 a.m. to a call for a single-vehicle collision at the 6400 block of Highway 290 and Berkman.

When officers arrived on-scene they discovered a deceased male inside the vehicle.

Initial investigation shows the vehicle appeared to have travelled at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 290 when it left the roadway and struck the guardrail and two light poles.

The affected roadways are expected to remain shut until 10 or 11 a.m. while the investigation continues.
