Updated: Friday, June 6 2014, 10:26 AM CDT

Half of Austin's City pools will not open today because of a lifeguard shortage.

Recruiting efforts continue but the city is still about 300 lifeguards short. City officials are hoping to get up to full speed as quickly as possible and say that they hope to open the remaining 16 pools on Monday.

The list of facilities that will be open Friday, June 6, include:

- Barton Springs Pool
- Bartholomew Pool
- Deep Eddy Pool
- Garrison Pool
- Mabel Davis Pool
- Northwest Pool
- Walnut Creek Pool
- Dick Nichols Pool
- Dottie Jordan Pool
- Dove Springs Pool
- Givens Pool
- Martin Pool
- Shipe Pool
- Stacy Pool
- Westenfiled Pool
- Shipe Wading Pool
- Stacy Wading Pool

The Aquatic Division is working to open most of the remaining pools Monday, June 9.

- Balcones
- Brentwood
- Canyon Vista
- Civitan
- Dittmar
- Gillis
- Govalle
- Kennemer
- Metz
- Murchison
- Parque Zaragosa
- Patterson
- Ramsey
- Reed
- Rosewood
- West Austin

Due to Civitan Pool not opening on Friday, Montopolis Pool patrons who were to be transported to that pool by previous arrangement will now be transported to Martin Pool. The Montopolis Pool, still under repair, is to open soon.
