Updated: Friday, August 8 2014, 04:42 PM CDT

A Travis County Sheriff's Office detective says she needs the public's help identifying a man who recently robbed a hotel housekeeper at knifepoint and attempted to rob another.

The first crime happened on Thursday, July 10, at 9:45 a.m., at the Holiday Inn located on I-35 just south of the Parmer Lane intersection.

Investigators say the suspect went into a room where he confronted a housekeeper and robbed her at knifepoint.

The second incident happened about an hour later. According to an Austin Police Department report, the man pointed a knife at a housekeeper at a nearby hotel but she managed to get away unharmed.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s. He is about 5'9", with a thin build and his hair is in short cornrows. He was last seen wearing dark colored pants, dark colored hoodie with a white draw string and black shoes.

If anyone has information about the suspect or these cases they are asked to call Detective Sylvia Leal at 512-854-3426.
