U.S. Marshals: Fugitive Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child

Updated: Monday, July 7 2014, 03:41 PM CDT

It's on this quiet South Austin street where investigators say Tomas Jaimes rented a small shed behind a house.

Investigators say in front of Jaimes home lived a 9-year old girl.

"While the parents were sleeping in the front home, a young child was playing in the back with her animals. Jaimes seized an opportunity while the parents were asleep and the child was playing in the backyard to take advantage of the child," says U.S. Marshals Supervisory Deputy Hector Gomez.

U.S. Marshals says 74-year old Tomas Jaimes sexually assaulted the child in August of 2011, by December 2011, the court issued a warrant for his arrest.

But this is not Jaimes first encounter with the law.

His rap sheet includes driving while intoxicated, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a prior conviction of indecency with a child.

"We certainly are concerned that there may be other victims out there, obviously he has done this and certainly has a sense that he can get away with this and that's what concerns us that there are other victims out there," says Gomez.

Jaimes has longer hair that he dies black, so it could be gray.

He's 5'04 and weighs 165 pounds.

It's possible he could be in Mexico but may also be hiding out anywhere in Central Texas.
