Angry Vermont Farmer Crushes Police Cars With Tractor

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT
The rolling hills of Newport, Vermont were not the only things rolling on Thursday. More than half of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department cruisers were rolled over and flattened on Thursday.

According to police, an angry farmer used a massive tractor to make quick work of the vehicles. The fleet was parked in the department’s parking lot at the time.

Police say 34-year-old Roger Pion crushed the vehicles after a previous arrest. A neighboring agency, the Newport City Police, says Pion was arrested a month ago on charges of resisting arrest and marijuana possession.

State police estimate the damage at about $250,000 for the seven crushed cruisers.

According to officials, the angry farmer was arrested after a low-speed chase and jailed on $15,000 bail.

Vermont State Police are conducting an independent investigation of the incident. Angry Vermont Farmer Crushes Police Cars With Tractor
