Mechanics Beat the Heat

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT
It's been a hot summer so far, and it’s not over yet. Try to imagine working in this heat without air conditioning. Luckily a Tulsa businessman has figured out a way to beat the heat.

About four years ago David O'Brien of O’Brien Automotive decided he worked his last day in the summer heat in long pants. He traded his pants in for a kilt.
O'Brien says he gets his share of giggles and strange looks, but in his opinion the kilt is the “manliest man-wear you can wear.”

David says wearing a kilt working on and under cars requires certain etiquette. O’Brien says, “Keep your knees down and your feet crossed, then everybody's happy and safe.”
He’s not alone in his kilt wearing. David Denney, whose nickname is Dinkum, has joined the movement too.
For David O'Brien and Dinkum it’s kilts all day every day from May to October. When the heat is on so are their kilts.
