Sea Lion Escapes

Updated: Tuesday, August 7 2012, 08:48 AM CDT
This animal was born to be wild!

A wayward sea lion has been returned once again to the ocean. Hopefully this time for good!

The seven-hundred-pound male was discovered miles from the coast in an Irvine, CA Flood Control Canal.

Irvine police called on the experts at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center to round up this maverick, using shields to coax the big guy in the right direction, and finally into a cage.

Apparently he is no stranger to land.

He is believed to be the same animal found in the same area before. That sea lion was taken to Newport Beach and released into the water.

Apparently went right back up San Diego Creek,  only this time he was about a mile and a half further inland.

The sea lion appeared to be in fine shape, just a little confused.

This time the marine center took him a few miles south to San Onofre State Beach and released him, where they hope he stays in the ocean.
