Texas State Fair Operators Hoping To Keep West Nile Away

With just five days until the State Fair in Dallas opens, preparations are underway to keep visitors safe from the West Nile Virus.
Since Dallas is at the center of the West Nile outbreak, preparations have gone beyond just the obvious. Fair grounds were sprayed with an extra dose of pesticides this year. The fair will also be keeping an eye out for signs of swine flu after it was found in pigs at state fairs in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Also, the Health Department is making sure all food stands are complying with city codes -- so you can be sure it is safe, even if it’s not exactly healthy.
As millions of people pass through the fair grounds, the Dallas Police Department will be stationed at various locations throughout the fair grounds to ensure safety.
Now, everyone can focus on just having fun.
