The free South by Southwest concerts started Thursday at Auditorium Shores. But organizers say they are keeping a close eye on the weather.

The stage is set, the sound is checked and all production is in place -- but will the weather cooperate?

"I'm hoping the rain stays away, last year we were soaked, we still played, it was a blast," says musician Carson McHone.

But not all musicians had the same luck. Last year a massive storm cancelled Saturday's all day concert.

This year, organizers are monitoring conditions for tomorrow in case of thunderstorms and lightning.

Among the fans are aspiring artists. Rapper and producer Fiyah says he and his artists are "just trying to grow, year by year, just trying to make it bigger."

These artists are all on the same label. "This is our first time coming so we just want to get experience on how it was and how to network with different people and different genres of music," said rapper Bandrunna Taz.

They say rain is the least of their worries. "We really just came to get the grips on everything to see how it works and next year it'll be bigger," Fiyah said.

They're hoping to be big enough to be on stage for SXSW next year.
