Authorities are looking for a convicted child sex offender that was recently accused of committing the same crime for a second time.

Aaron Dehart was first convicted of indecency with a child in 2016 and received ten years of probation. He was supposed to register as a sex offender and keep up with his probation officer.

"He failed to report and that's when he was staying at his friend's house," said U.S. Deputy Marshal Brandon Filla.

A young girl was living in the house in Burnet County. According to authorities, that's when Dehart repeated his crime.

"Once again Aaron Dehart did attempt to sexually assault a child," Filla said.

He stopped reporting to authorities, but before disappearing for good, he made a call.

"Left a voicemail with the Burnet Police Department that he was going to reside at the ARCH in downtown Austin," Filla said.

According to administrators, the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless (ARCH) does not check criminal records before letting people in. But they will comply with authorities if there is a warrant.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force has not confirmed that Dehart did in fact go to the ARCH, so the search area is larger.

"The main focal point is going to be from Burnet County to Austin," Filla said.

The case was recently handed over to the U.S. Marshals and they hope to avoid having another victim.

"We need to get him behind bars before he strikes for a third time," Filla said.

If you have any information on his whereabouts call the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 512-800-4213.
