Consumer group wants lead out of hair dye
Consumer groups are asking the FDA to get lead out of hair dye.
Lead acetate can be found in two hair dye brands for men. It's used as a color additive.
Although the dye is targeted for adult men, consumer groups are afraid of what could happen if children get their hands on the dye.
Grecian Formula -- one of the brands that uses the additive -- says, "lead acetate has been used safely as a color additive" based on scientific studies.
