Adam Winkler Goes 1-on-1 with Texas Guard Julien Lewis

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT
Sophomore guard Julien Lewis is one of only two returning starters for the Longhorns in 2012-2013. However, if sophomore point guard Myck Kabongo's eligibility situation with the NCAA is not cleared up by opening nigh, Lewis will be the lone returning starter for Rick Barnes' team.

"I've always had a little extra weight on my shoulders since high school scoring wise," Lewis told KEYE TV sports. "The departure of J'Covan, that's big right now. But we've got people like Sheldon [McClellan] like Jonathan [Holmes] like Jaylen [Bond], all of us can score the ball. Even I can score the ball."

Lewis ranked fourth on the team in 2011-2012 with 7.8 points per game and 25.5 minutes per game. Texas snuck into the NCAA tournament but was ousted by Cincinnati in its first game.

"Our goals are bigger than getting into the tournament this year," said Lewis. "It's winning the Big 12 first of all and then getting into that Final Four spot and then winning that national championship."

Texas opens the season Friday November 9th at home vs. Fresno State.
