Ash Shrugs Off Anxiety

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT

The biggest buzzword around the UT football team in the last nine months has been “quarterback.”

Monday the word changed to “anxious.”

Mack Brown referred to the anxiety of opening week repeatedly as the Longhorns get set to take on Wyoming.  It’s not because he lacks confidence in his team, it’s more because this is his 15th opener at Texas and he knows how this works.

David Ash battled Case McCoy for 9 months before finally fending him off to win the starting quarterback job.  UT named Ash its starter last week.

Saturday night Ash takes center stage as the number one guy for the Horns again.  And his take on the anxiety of it all is a pretty good one.

Ash believes players are anxious because they aren’t prepared.  He also believes he is prepared, and that the offense can do big things.

“Our offense can be as explosive as anybody,” the confident QB said.   “We can put a lot of points on the board.”

Saturday night at 7:00 we’ll get to see just how much his confidence pays off for Texas.Ash Shrugs Off Anxiety
