Connor Brewer Transferring

Updated: Wednesday, July 10 2013, 03:38 PM CDT

The night of the spring game Mack Brown said true freshman quarterback Tyrone Swoopes was ahead of both Jalen Overstreet and Connor Brewer.  In his June press conference before his players started summer ball, Brown said they would try to get Overstreet on the field in a capacity other than quarterback – most likely as a running back - wide receiver dual threat.

Connor Brewer's decision Monday to transfer almost seemed too obvious.

After one season in Austin, Brewer is leaving the program.  He arrived from Chaparral High School in Arizona after leading his squad to three straight state championships.  He threw 100 touchdowns in his career.  He redshirted his first season at UT.

In April, police arrested Brewer on charges of public intoxication and minor in possession.

""I do feel that it is in my best interest as a football player to pursue other options to continue my college career," Brewer said in a statement the school released.

"It just has been an honor to be a Longhorn."

Brewer has not announced where he will transfer.
