Geek Bowl Back in Austin

Updated: Friday, January 17 2014, 10:45 PM CST

Six former Longhorns are still alive in the NFL playoffs. The Super Bowl will be held in two weeks. But the Geek Bowl, the Super Bowl of trivia, is just eight days away.

Geek Bowl VIII will be held right here in Austin. It's the largest live trivia even in the United States. This is the third straight year the Geek Bowl will be held in Austin, but the first time ACL Live at The Moody Theater will serve as the venue.

Saturday January 25th, more than 150 teams from 15 different states will be competing for more than $10,000 in cash prizes.

"There's live music and everything you would ever want when you go out on a Saturday night," says Evelyn Hurley, the Texas Crew Manager for Geeks Who Drink.

"We've got people coming in from all over the country," said John W. Smith, the Director of PR and Marketing for Geeks Who Drink. "Whether they come to our trivia nights or not, they know this is the big one."
