Manziel Leaving Texas A&M For NFL Draft

Updated: Wednesday, January 8 2014, 08:14 PM CST

Johnny Football is heading to the NFL.

Texas A and M quarterback Johnny Manziel declared for the NFL draft on Wednesday, wrapping up a spectacular two seasons in which he became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy and helped the Aggies make a splash in their first two years in the Southeastern Conference.

In a letter posted by the university, Manziel says he felt it was the "right time" to take the next step toward the NFL. He thanked his coaches and fans.
