Manziel: Posey Feels Your Pain

Updated: Thursday, August 15 2013, 12:07 PM CDT

DeVier Posey has never met Johnny Manziel, yet he feels the sophomore's pain.

Posey, a second year wide receiver for the Houston Texans, was suspended twice (five games each) by the NCAA during his junior season at Ohio State. Manziel, the Texas A&M quarterback, is under scrutiny for possibly accepting payment for autographs following his Heisman Trophy season of 2012. Posey's suspensions were related to a scandal involving trading team-issued items for tattoos and for allegedly being overpaid by a booster for whom Posey was working.

"I know the witch-hunting that goes on with the NCAA," recalled Posey. "I know how those meetings go and how time-consuming and mentally stressful they are. It's hard to focus on football. I just feel his pain. And whatever he did, people have to remember it's not a crime. He's still a good kid and he just loves football."

Posey is on the Physically Unable to Perform list while he recovers from a torn achilles tendon.
