Olympian Brendan Hansen Blasts USADA

Updated: Friday, August 24 2012, 03:56 PM CDT
Brendan Hansen, a six-time Olympic swimming medalist, does not agree with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency's decision to strip cyclist Lance Armstrong of his seven Tour de France titles and impose a lifetime ban from the sport.

"They're [USADA] acting like a government entity and getting very political, and that's just not right," Hansen told KEYE TV sports Friday. "I don't know enough about the situation to have an opinion, nobody really does, yet everybody has an opinion," Hansen added. "USADA is just trying to get after somebody, and it's very unprofessional."

Hansen says he's only talked to Armstrong, a fellow Austinite, "once or twice", but he sides with Lance in this situation. "You believe they [USADA] are looking out for the best of the athlete, but in this situation they weren't," says Hansen. "Seeing the way they [USADA] acted puts a question mark in your eyes. What are they really going after?"

Hansen won a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke at the London Olympics, as well as his third career gold medal in the 4x100 medley relay.Olympian Brendan Hansen Blasts USADA
