SXSW Adds Sports-Focused Programming

The SXSW interactive, film and music festival announced Tuesday they've added a track of sports-focused programming and film screenings for next year's event.

Festival officials say the inaugural SXsports will take place Friday afternoon, March 7 through the end of the day on Sunday, March 9.

SXsports programming will be open to all SXSW Interactive, Film, Gold and Platinum registrants.

The opening featured speaker for SXsports on Friday, March 7, is Peter Guber a part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, co-executive chairman of the Golden State Warriors and chairman of Mandalay Sports Media.

Preliminary Confirmed 2014 SXsports Programming:

- Opening Featured Speaker: Peter Guber (Mandalay Sports Media): "Hunting for Elephants: Creating Enterprise Value in Sports Media"
- "Media & the Personal Brand: Grantland & 538": Bill Simmons (ESPN, Grantland), Nate Silver (FiveThirtyEight)
- "Arena vs. Couch: The Battle of Game Day Experience": Bob Morgan (SportStream), Jordan Maleh (University of Michigan), Bryan Srabian (San Francisco Giants)
- "Innovation in Big-Time College Football": Kliff Kingsbury (Texas Tech University), George Schroeder (USA TODAY Sports)
