Texas Baseball Holds Off UTPA 5-4

Mark Payton singled home the game winning run in the 8th as 10th ranked Texas came back to knock off UT-Pan American 5-4 Tuesday night.
Morgan Cooper (4-1) pitched the 8th to get the win, while John Curtiss earned his 6th save of the season.
The Longhorns (31-11) dug themselves a 4-1 hole before the offense came alive in the bottom of the 5th.  Zane Gurwitz singled home Collin Shaw and CJ Hinojosa scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to one.
Ben Johnson hit his 5th homer of the year in the 6th to tie it at 4.
The game stayed that way into the 8th.  Brooks Marlow led off the inning with a single, and Johnson followed with the same.  Payton hit a 1-2 pitch into center to bring home the game winner.
Texas moved to 9-1 on Tuesday's this year.  The 3 hour, 41 minute game was the longest of the year.The Horns welcome in Oklahoma State for a three game set beginning Friday night at 7pm.Texas Baseball Holds Off UTPA 5-4
