UT President Recommends Mack Brown Extension

Mack Brown will stay at Texas as long as he wants.

That’s the message from University of Texas President Bill Powers and men’s athletic director DeLoss Dodds, after announcing they will recommend the UT Board of Regents extend Brown’s contract through 2020.

“He has achieved a level of success rare in college athletics and has done so with the class and integrity that embodies The University of Texas at Austin,” Powers and Dodds said in a statement.  “Our football program is in a great place thanks to Mack’s hard work. Mack is as energized as ever, has a great staff and an exciting young team. Our future is very bright.”

Brown led Texas to a National Championship in 2005.  He has a record of 141-39 in 14 years at Texas.

The last two seasons, however, haven’t lived up to expectations.  Texas went 5-7 in 2010, and 8-5 in 2011.
