Adela Uchida joined KEYE-TV as an anchor and reporter in January 2015. She comes to Austin from Houston, where she was Emmy nominated for her reporting on the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan in 2011. She also won the National Journalism Award in 2013 from the Asian American Journalists Association for her story on the aftermath of the BP oil spill.
Outside of work, Adela is a mother to an adorable little girl, an avid runner and sometimes dabbles in cycling. She is frustratingly close to Boston qualifying time in the marathon and has a mean flip turn in the pool, which means a triathlon is somewhere in the future.
Before coming to Texas, Adela was an anchor in Michigan and a reporter in Colorado and Arizona. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in broadcast journalism and an emphasis in political science. Adela and her family live in Austin, along with two rescue cats.
