Woman Succumbs to Injuries From Far South Austin Car Crash


A woman died Thursday from injuries she received in a one-vehicle car crash last week in far South Austin.

It crash happened at around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22 in the 9900 block of South I-35, just south of the Slaughter Lane exit.

Police say the 27-year-old woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was driving southbound in an SUV when she left the roadway and struck the concrete barrier that divides north and southbound traffic.

She was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where she died from her injuries a week later.

This is Austin’s 70th traffic fatality of 2012. At this time in 2011, there were 48 traffic fatalities.
