Apps For Last-Minute Hotel Deals During Holiday Travel

If you’re one of the millions hitting the road this weekend for the holidays, this morning, we have some help for you in the form of apps that can help you through any last-minute snags or if you are someone who likes to procrastinate.

When you hit the road to head out of town, having a smartphone or tablet with you can be a huge help when it comes to beating boredom, but it can also help you save money. You might use it for directions, finding low gas prices, and now they’re becoming an invaluable tool for travelers needing to book that hotel room at the last minute. Some will give you a discount if you book a room for the same day with one of these apps.

Kayak, Priceline, Travelocity, Orbitz, and many of the airfare-booking sites have apps that will get you discounted hotel rates anywhere from 10 to 50 percent for stays that start the same day. The app will sort the results on a list by price, hotel quality, or location, or display that information on a map. The app also lets you click to find the hotels closest to your current location by using your device’s GPS.

According to AAA, more than 7 million Texans are expected to hit the roads Friday, the final weekend before Christmas.
