Operation Blue Santa Breakfast Kicks Off


The Austin Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa will host their annual breakfast Friday. KOKE radio will broadcast live from the event and KEYE TV will also hold a phone bank from 6 a.m. until noon.

Operation Blue Santa Breakfast is at the Shoal Crossing Event Center located at 8611 North MoPac Expressway.

Everyone is encouraged to make a donation or bring a new unwrapped toy to the FREE breakfast. If you would like to contribute but can’t make it to the breakfast, you can call the KEYE TV phone bank at 512-832-7575 and volunteers will take your donation.

All proceeds raised and collected from this event will benefit Operation Blue Santa. The event will feature live music from local Austin artists and a silent auction.

Operation Blue Santa is a charitable outreach effort created in 1972 by two APD patrol officers who realized that some families in their area would not have gifts or food for their children at Christmas. The distribution began with 20 families from the back of a patrol car. Today, Operation Blue Santa serves more than 3,800 families with 14,000 children receiving gifts during the holiday season. Delivery day is scheduled for December 15, 2012.
