Area Districts, Parents Discuss School Safety

Area school districts discussed their emergency plans in the wake of the deadly shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.

Austin Independent School District has resource police officers in all middle and high schools.  Officers patrol elementary schools.  AISD police want anyone who sees something suspicious one or off campus to contact them.

Visitors to AISD schools must check in. The district says it regularly preforms emergency drills.

The Round Rock School District sent letters home to parents expressing its sympathy and giving them information on how to talk to children about the tragedy.

Parents we talked to at Canyon Ridge Middle School in the Leander School District said they want the school district to do make security a priority.  But they don't want airport like security in schools.
