Austin Gasoline Prices Drop 6 Cents Before Holidays
Gas price in Austin dropped six cents just in time for holiday travel.
The current average price is $3.04 but you can see prices below $3.00 across the area.
Statewide the price of a gallon of gas also went down six cents, according to AAA Texas. Retail gasoline prices fell seven cents nationwide to settle at $3.23 per gallon.
An association survey found that Fort Worth has the state's cheapest gasoline, averaging $2.98 per gallon. Amarillo has the most expensive gasoline in Texas at $3.10 per gallon.
Experts say gasoline prices have dropped amid cheaper crude oil prices, lower demand and economic concerns, along with increased inventories.
AAA has predicted nearly 7.7 million Texans will hit the road during the 11-day period holiday from Saturday through Jan. 1, with most traveling by vehicle.
