Rental Santa Business Brings In Big Bucks


The life of Santa’s helper can almost be compared to a rock star’s life, with lines of fans, the unforgettable wardrobe and a decked out ride.

Santa Rex with 3 Ring Service has been booked solid for weeks. “Creating smiles is the most wonderful job in the world and that's what I do,” Rex said. “I wish I could do Santa all year round. Once you put on the suit it's so much easier to become the persona.”

Santas like Rex can go to up to 10 appearances a day, and in some cases can bring in up to $20,000 in a month.

“A major part of my income is December,” Rex said.

Allen Danziger, President of 3 Ring Service, says business has been booming over the holidays. Danziger says he employs about a dozen Santas. He said he looks for someone that is usually older, with a beard, loves kids and has a twinkle in their eye.

“When it's right and you see it, it's magic, so not everybody can do it,” Danziger said.

He said the best part about his job is watching the transformation once the Santas are in their red suits.
