Burn Ban Issued In Williamson County

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a burn ban for 30 days on Tuesday.

Commissioners gave the County Judge the authority to lift the burn ban during this time if conditions improve.

Residents cannot burn outside of an enclosure, such as a barbecue grill, which serves to contain all flames or sparks.  The burn ban prohibits the burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings. It also prohibits burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation.

Anyone caught burning will face a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $500.
