Home Security Camera Catches UPS Guy Stealing FedEx Christmas Package
In these days of webcams and the Internet, someone is always likely to be watching. A Houston delivery driver found that out the hard way, after being caught on tape stealing a package.
Sitting in front of his computer, Al Alverson says he couldn't believe what he saw when he went back to look at surveillance video.
Wednesday the Alversons were expecting two Christmas gifts to be delivered they had purchased online. But when they got home, the one delivered by FedEx wasn't there. The company said in an email it had been dropped off that morning.
"It was delivered at 9:29 a.m. I have DVR with all the cameras on it.
And at 9:29 a.m., he clearly sees his iPad Mini being delivered by FedEx. Their second gift was delivered by UPS 1:15 p.m. The surveillance camera clearly captures that moment too.
But two minutes later, the UPS employee comes back. The video shows the driver taking the FedEx package with the iPad Mini inside and leaving.
The Alversons contacted UPS and felt they were getting the runaround first so they posted the video on YouTube for the whole world to see.
"I got a call. They were very helpful, and they promised they would give me a replacement iPad," Alverson said.
And they did. UPS was also able to identify its employee, and he was not only fired, but arrested and charged with theft.
