Off-Duty Deputy Shoots Gunman Inside San Antonio Theater


A gunman opened fire Sunday night in a Chinese restaurant and on a police car in San Antonio Sunday night.

The shooting happened near I-35 and Southwest Military Drive.

Police say Jesus Manuel Garcia, 19, was having relationship problems with his girlfriend, who worked at the restaurant where the shooting began.  The restaurant was closed.  Employees ran out the back. No one was hit.

Police say Garcia then fired into a police car parked nearby. The officer inside was not hit.

He walked across a parking lot into a movie theater lobby. An off-duty Bexar County sheriff's deputy, who was working security in the area, shot Garcia four times.  He is in the hospital in critical condition.

One bystander was shot but is in stable condition.
