Manor Therapy Dog Returned To Its Rightful Owner
A nine-year-old boy has been reunited with his beloved therapy dog. His six-year-old lab, named Honey, went missing Dec. 13 in Manor. It’s been his sole companion after suffering severe burns several years ago.
The family was devastated after their dog went missing, putting up lost dog posters all around town.
The boy, named Paul, said he just wanted his dog back for Christmas and his birthday coming up on Dec. 21.
Misty Lansford, Paul’s mom says Honey got out of their yard last Thursday. "I called the police station and reported she went missing. I drove around looking for her,” said Lansford.
Then, Monday night, Misty says they found a poster that showed a picture of their missing dog, but she says that when she called the number on the flyer the woman who responded refused to return her dog.
We did some digging and were able to find an address for the number posted on the missing dog flyer and went to see if the dog was still there.
The man who came to the door said they took the dog in for five days, even posting a picture of the dog and contact information on the city’s animal service website last weekend. They then took the dog to the city’s animal shelter.
"I want to say thank you for bringing my dog to the pound and I hope you have a good Christmas with your family. This is my Christmas gift and my birthday gift,” Paul says.
The dog was chipped by the animal shelter before it was given back to Paul.
The family says no matter what they are grateful for the people who found their dog.
