Woman Guilty Of 2011 Southeast Austin Murder


A woman was found guilty of first degree murder by a Travis County jury Thursday for the killing of a man at a Southeast Austin homeless camp in 2011.

Lou Ann Tompkins, 53, shot and killed 46-year-old Darin Bell on Jan. 22.

His body was found in a homeless campsite on Winnebago Lane off Burleson Road.

The case now goes into the sentencing phase on Friday. She faces up to life in prison if convicted.
