Fayette County Makes 1,600 Pound Pot Bust
Fayette County deputies make one of the largest marijuana busts in county history.
A Fayette County deputy and canine partner recovered 1,600 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop at noon Tuesday.
Deputy Randy Thumann was on traffic patrol on Interstate 10 and conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Ford truck for a traffic violation. He saw several suspicious bundles in the bed of the truck.
Thurmann’s canine partner, Lobos, indicated the bundles were an illegal substance. Thumann and Lobos then found several more bundles of marijuana inside the truck.
The driver of the truck, 41-years-old Rafael Salinas from San Ygnacio, Texas, is charged with possession of marijuana 50 to 2,000 pounds.
