Trail Of Lights Sees Huge Crowd On Last Day
What did you think of the return of Austin's Trail of Lights? Apparently not much if you were among the estimated 75,000 who took in the holiday display on its closing night.
Social media was buzzing Monday with reaction to the light display's return. After a two year absence it was back bigger than ever, but perhaps not big enough.
On KEYE TV's Facebook page, Tammy Carter wrote, "I thought the lights were very pretty. My kids however, were towered over by a trampede of adults making it very hard for them to even 'see' the lights at all. It was way over crowded."
Trampede isn't even a word, but when you see the pictures from closing night you get the idea. She's talking trampled and stampeded. No injuries were reported, but there were enough people jockeying for a view that somebody got the police briefly involved to try to restore order.
The critics were the most vocal, but there were others who appreciated the effort it took to bring back the Trail of Lights after it fell to the budget ax.
The RunTex Foundation, one of the organizers of the Trail of Lights, says they are very pleased with the overall success of this year's event and have received a lot of positive feedback.
