Austin Crash Kills 1; 4 Children Injured
One person is dead and four children were hurt in a traffic crash Sunday night in Southeast Austin.
It happened just after 8 p.m. on Hwy 183 southbound near the Hwy 290 intersection.
Austin police say a Chevrolet Suburban and 18-wheeler collided. The Suburban was then wedged into a pole with the occupants pinned inside.
Investigators say the right front passenger in the Suburban, 28-year-old Belinda Cisneros, died at the scene. Four children went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at 512-974-8164.
This is Austin’s 71st traffic fatality of 2012. At this time in 2011, there were 48 traffic fatalities.
