Barton Springs Pool To Close For Repair
Barton Springs Pool in South Austin is closing Wednesday for repair work and won't reopen until March of next year.
Workers will repair a bypass tunnel located on the north side of the pool that allows for the normal flow of water in Barton Springs to pass, and small floods to bypass the swimming area, helping to maintain the quality of water.
The City of Austin says that if the pool does not receive the proper repairs it could potentially become a dangerous place for visitors to swim.
While repairs are being done to the tunnel, the city plans on fixing a crack in the downstream dam as well.
The date for re-opening is set for March 2013, pending any delays.
