Truck Driver Killed In Fiery South Austin I-35 Crash Identified

Police have identified the driver of an 18-wheeler killed on Interstate 35 in South Austin Tuesday morning after crashing into an overpass pillar.

Investigators say that at around 11:30 a.m. a Ford Taurus was traveling northbound in the middle lane of I-35 when it veered into the right lane of traffic where an 18-wheeler was also traveling northbound near the Slaughter Lane intersection.

The 18-wheeler, driven by 52-year-old Reginald D. Porch, then left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge pillar, catching on fire.

Porch was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at 512-974-5312.

This is Austin's 4th fatal traffic crash and the 6th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were three traffic fatalities.
