Water Sprays From Broken South Austin Water Main
Water gushed from a water main in South Austin Monday after an independent contractor hit a main.
It happened at 9 a.m. on South I-35, just south of William Cannon Drive.
Jason Hill from Austin Water Utility says the break in the eight inch main has caused water outages. He estimates water will be restored by 3 p.m.
The water shot up in the air for at least 30 minutes before a crew could shut it off.
Hill says once the main is repaired, the agency will determine who is responsible for the cost of the repair.
