Worker Critically Injured In Waller Creek Tunnel Construction Project
A construction worker received a critical injury on a construction site in Downtown Austin this afternoon.
According to Austin-Travis County Public Information Officer Warren Hassinger, the man was working on the Waller Creek Tunnel project on 5th Street between I-35 and Sabine Street.
Hassinger says the man had a penetrating trauma to the head. He is in University Medical Center Brackenridge in critical condition.
He was working in the area where crews had been hauling out debris from the tunnel, Hassinger said.
