Teen Charged In Soldier's Murder In Killeen
KILLEEN, Texas (AP) -- Police say a Central Texas teenager has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a Fort Hood soldier who was attacked outside a convenience store.
Killeen police on Wednesday said 17-year-old Terry Grant Scott of Killeen was being held pending arraignment over the Jan. 2 attack. Police had no immediate information on an attorney for Scott, who was arrested Tuesday.
Fort Hood officials say Spec. Austin James Sampson of Bliss, N.Y., died Friday at a Temple hospital. Police say two men who were with Sampson in an SUV were critically wounded by the gunfire in a convenience store parking lot.
Investigators have not announced a possible motive for the shootings.
Sampson had been assigned to Fort Hood's Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, since February 2010.
