New Downtown Austin Post Office Opens Wednesday

The U.S. Postal Service is set to open their new downtown post office at 823 Congress on Wednesday. It’s moved from the old location at 5th and Guadalupe, part of a cost-cutting consolidation effort for the cash strapped agency.
 
One complaint with the new facility has been the concern over a lack of free, available parking during business hours in that area. The building is located on a busy stretch of Congress near the Capitol. If you need to go to the post office during business hours, one app that can help you find parking is Park Me. It shows where parking is available in central Austin and at what price using real-time data from the street meters. You can customize it by setting time of day, type of car, and how much you’re willing to pay.
