Central Texas Law Enforcement Concerned Over Ammo Shortage

Concerns over potential changes to existing gun laws are being credited for prompting a nationwide ammunition shortage. That's raised the question whether law enforcement will be adequately prepared.

Several Central Texas law enforcement agencies say they are looking into the issue and how it will affect them. Right now police departments from Lockhart to Leander say they are prepared for a short term ammo shortage - buts it's the long term they're concerned about.

Ammunition and guns have been flying off the shelves at stores across the country, with both existing and new gun owners flocking to purchase guns and ammo since the gun control debate began after the tragedy at San Hook Elementary in Connecticut. The backlog for ammunition now reportedly exceeds one year.
