Whole Foods Recall Salmon Product; Not Sold In Texas


Austin-based Whole Foods Market has recalled one of type of its salmon but none of it was sold in Texas.

Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon (4 oz), cold smoked and sliced, was sold in stores in 12 states -- Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island and Utah.

The product may contain Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism which can cause a sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
The product being recalled has the UPC Code 0 99482 40880 0 and lot number 7425A2298B.

No illnesses have been reported. A sample of the product tested positive for listeria. 

The Food and Drug Administration says customers should dispose of the product in the garbage and wash their hands immediately to avoid any potential cross-contamination.
