Travis County Weighs Gun Show Restrictions Again

Gun show controversy: on Tuesday, Travis County Commissioners could vote on a controversial move to limit gun shows in the county.

For the second week in a row, Travis County Commissioners are debating whether or not to stop leasing the Expo Center and county owned facilities to gun shows. Gun advocates say restrictions could cost the county $400,000 in rental fees and court costs from lawsuits, and some see it as an infringement on their rights at the publicly owned facility. Supporters of the restrictions say its too easy to buy a gun at a gun show, and a restriction would be a positive move toward community safety.

Currently there are ten gun shows listed as scheduled at the Expo Center, the first one January 26-27.
Commissioners are expected to take up the issue at 10 a.m.
