2-Alarm Fire Burns Northeast Austin Apartment Complex


A two-alarm fire broke out at a Northeast Austin apartment complex Thursday night.

It happened at around 8:50 p.m. at the Promontory Point Apartments located at 2250 Ridgepoint Drive, just north of the Hwy 183 and Hwy 290 intersection.

Flames could be seen shooting out of the roof and the attic of building 10.

The fire was extinguished at around 10 p.m. The building suffered heavy smoke and water damage as well. Fire officials say about 30 people are now homeless.

No residents were injured in the fire, but one firefighter was treated at the scene. His condition is unknown.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
