'American Sniper' Author's Memorial Planned For Cowboys Stadium

A memorial is planned for Cowboys Stadium in Arlington for the former Navy SEAL sniper and author shot dead at a rural firing range.

The public memorial service for "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle is set for Monday at the North Texas stadium.

The 38-year-old former Navy SEAL is reputed to have been the deadliest sniper in American military history. He and 35-year-old friend Chad Littlefield were killed Saturday afternoon at the firing range at Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose.

A 25-year-old Iraq War veteran is accused of killing the pair. Eddie Ray Routh is charged with one capital murder count and two of murder. He remains jailed in Stephenville with bond set at $3 million.

His attorney has said he will ask for a court-appointed psychiatrist to determine if Routh is competent to stand trial.
