Houston Teenager Sues To Stop Abortion


A pregnant 16-year-old in Texas is suing her parents because she says they are forcing her to have an abortion.

The Houston teen is two months pregnant and represented by lawyers with the Texas Center for Defense of Life. 

A judge granted a temporary restraining order to prevent an abortion.

The lawsuit is eight pages long and details alleged verbal abuse by the teen's parents.

In the lawsuit, the teen claims her mom, "invited the paternal grandparents to a bar for further discussion, where she suggested that she might slip her an abortion pill through deception."

The teen also claims her father told her, "he was going to force her to have an abortion and that the decision was his, end of story."

Even though she is a minor, the teen has the power to make that decision.

"What Roe established, and the cases after that, was that a minor has an absolutely right to make her choice," attorney Stephen Casey said. "And what's revealing is, a lot of times, when people say, I do want to make the choice, people are shocked when they want to choose to carry the baby."

Another hearing is scheduled for Friday.

The teen's father says the allegations are false.  He told local media that he thinks someone put his daughter up to the lawsuit.
